About where I live.

The neighborhood is just between scummy and respectable.  There's a bus stop at either end of the street, and there's mostly students or lower-income families that live here.  Many of the houses are old and crumbling but beautiful in their own right; our flat is bordered by a graveyard with tombstones that are over 100 years old.

Our room is on the bottom floor and it gets quite warm down here, which is good because our flat has no heating or cooling.  We keep the window open except for at night, when the moths flock in.  It's not terribly big, but we have enough room for a double bed, two desks, computers and consoles galore and of course, our big TV.  It's really homey down here.  We also have our own shower on the bottom floor, and a great view of our tiny back yard with ivy spilling over the tall back fence, neighbors' houses almost close enough to touch, and clothes always on the line.

Up one flight of stairs and there's the kitchen which is usually packed with clean dishes waiting to be put away, good smells from the cooking always taking place up there, and good-natured gurgling from the giant turtle tank that sits in the walkway from the kitchen to the living room.  In the living room there are two huge couches which are wonderful for sleeping and windows...tons of windows.  We open them during the day and the breeze and sunlight floods in.  There's a TV and a computer there as well, and two of our flatmates can almost always be found on the couch playing FIFA.

The third floor is one I rarely visit; there's bedrooms up there and none of them are mine.  However, one of those rooms has the best view of the industrial side of the city I could imagine.  From that window you have a vast view of our whole side of town; smokestacks and factories and orange streetlights.

It sounds like a beautiful place in a way. Nowhere that I would want to live (country boy at heart), but one of those places where I would visit and ramble for hours.

Glad that you have such nice views, and such wonderful sunlight.
